Ashley Deem for Kanawha County Circuit Judge

A Vote for the Rule of Law

Ashley Deem is a lifelong Republican and a candidate for the nonpartisan race for Judge of the Circuit Court of Kanawha County.

She is a sixth generation West Virginian and was born and raised in the coal fields of Eastern Kanawha County where she attended public schools before graduating from West Virginia University and the University of Kentucky College of Law.

Ashley has years of experience as a lawyer—first in the court system, then in private practice.  After she graduated from law school, Ashley served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Elizabeth D. Walker of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.  She then entered private practice at Charleston-firm, Thomas Combs & Spann, PLLC, where she handled significant trial preparation for major cases in West Virginia and across the United States. Upon its opening, Ashley was tapped to help start and implement the newly-created Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia (ICA) as Deputy Clerk of the Supreme Court of Appeals to oversee the ICA’s day-to-day operations. These experiences helped solidify Ashley’s commitment to public service and the law.

She has also volunteered her time to several educational and non-profit organizations right here in Kanawha County. She was appointed to the Board of Governors of BridgeValley Community and Technical College by Governor Jim Justice, eventually serving as Chair. She currently serves as an adjunct professor of legal studies at the college and sits on the foundation board.

Ashley has always believed the court system and judges must treat everyone honestly and fairly. These are the exact principles she will bring to the Circuit Court of Kanawha County. She will be a tough, but fair judge.

Ashley resides in South Charleston with her fiancé, Greg, stepchildren, Navy & Abe, and world’s most wonderful goldendoodle, Maggie. She and her family attend Bible Center Church in Charleston.
